Rochester NY - Fun at the Memorial Art Gallery

The Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester is located at 500 University Avenue in Rochester, NY. Here is a picture of the gallery's main entrance.

The gallery has an ongoing exhibition called "Seeing America" featuring American paintings and sculpture from the 19th and 20th centuries. The sculpture pictured below is called "Indian Group - The Last Shot (1880)" by Randolph Rodgers.

There was enough light in the exhibition area to get decent depth of field. So, in switching the Canon G10 to macro shooting mode and getting close up, the Native American is now huge.

Rochester NY - Lunchtime Outting to High Falls

An excellent source for more High Falls information is http://www.centerathighfalls.org/walking/index.htm . The first picture is of the Genesee River High Falls with a back drop of downtown Rochester.

The Kodak Office tower, originally built in 1914 with additional floors and the distinctive roof added in 1930, is adjacent to the High Falls area.

This is a view looking northeast'ish to the Genesee Brewery on the east bank of the Genesee River. The windows are from the renovated shell of a building that housed a 19th century water wheel.
